Mark Kelly – What I See

While waiting for a soccer game at Clarkston High School, I went beneath the bleachers and played with shape and lines.

Shots from last Sunday’s Flint City Derby Girls vs. Race City Rebels.  This event was a fund raiser for our church to support the Whaley House in Flint.  http://www.whaleyhouse.com/  Much fun was had by all.

I was on my way home this week and shot these images at midnight in Clarkston, MI.  As I drove home there was thick fog near the lakes and I was planning for an erie looking shoot.  When I got into town, there was not much fog, but blowing snow and a lot of snow.

I found these shots up in the choir loft of a church I was in last Friday.  I was there to record the memorial for a friend, got there early and wandered a bit.  The church was one of the grand old Detroit churches, on Schoolcraft near Wyoming.  The memorial was a stirring event.

I went out last night to shoot Xmas lights at dusk.  The sky was a beautiful blue and contrasted with the warm glow of the lights.  That’s the only thing that was warm.  I also went out to test the camera in very cold conditions for the parade on Saturday.  Camera worked fine, need better gloves

Shots from last week’s Clarkston Football game.  The Wolves beat Royal Oak considerably.  It was a fun evening of football, crowds, cheerleaders,marching bands and good old high school spirit.

Earlier this week I was asked to judge photography for the upcoming Michigan State Fair.  All the judges for that day met at 9 in the morning and were given an orientation.  I was teamed with two other professional photographers and asked to judge Adult B&W and color.  We judged categories like people, landscapes animals and others.  Some decisions were easy to make where there we obvious best images and other decisions were more difficult, where there were many good images and we had to limit to a few.

Come and see the results in the Community Arts Building at the southwest corner of the grounds.  The Fair starts Friday August 28 and runs through Labor Day.

I am going with the family and some neighbors, have not been to the Fair in a while.

A couple weekends ago, I attended a friend of ours jumping show at Foxwoode Hunt Club in Holly MI.  I shot from the floor and quickly got an education on equestrian events.
