Model and actor headshots photography of James. As you can see James works out a bit. He needed to update his social media and model comp, so we shot a bit. We shot in the studio and started with a simple model comp headshot. James has a bit of security experience and chose security as a theme. He had a lot of what a SWAT officer would have. The gun was a non functioning prop, whew.
Executive headshot photography of financial professionals in downtown Detroit MI office.
A local financial company needed updates of the headshot of some of their executives. I arrived at their downtown office building. The original plan was to photograph each executive in a “studio” set up and then something situational in a couple different boardrooms and office spaces. After the first couple of shots we decided to concentrate on portraits in and around the boardrooms. Both rooms had wonderful, if not overcast, views of downtown Detroit, the Detroit River which made for some stunning backgrounds.
Most executives don’t have much modeling experience or time in front of the camera. What I try to quickly do is let the executives know what we are going to do, where it is going to happen and what I’d like them to do. Let them know I know what I am doing. My goal is to get them comfortable and relaxed enough to bring out the appropriate person for the position and role they hold in the organization. In this case this is a financial institution. The executives need to be serious and professional at the same time being an approachable and friendly person.
Below are a few example of the shots from the morning.
Fitness photography of a local model. Alora and I met at her suburban Detroit home after her manager and I had connected online. Alora was looking for some fitness photography to round out her modeling portfolio. She wanted shots of her doing fitness stuff in and around the backyard and pool.
The day of the shoot was very hot and sunny. We started by doing some stretching and yoga shots in the shade, using strobes to add a little spark. We then went to the diving board a the pool and I got my strobes as bright as I could to overpower the sun a bit. The strobes strongly side lit Alora and I was able to push down the ambient light.

Some animated gif headshots. I shot some headshots a while ago and converted them to animated gif. The shots were for CVmedia as they are developing a new website and wanted to update their headshots. I delivered the photos and later thought they might make for an interesting experiment with animated gifs. I delivered full color shots lightly retouched shots that CV can crop and use as they see best. You can se some examples of basic retouching in a previous post here – http://mpk-photo.com/2016/04/19/executive-headshot-retouching
I decided to change the images to black and white for simplicity, selected a few of my favorites that seemed to work together and edited the images in Photoshop CC, making full sized gifs and then smaller resolution gifs
I think animated gifs could be a nice option to bring some interest to your websites about page.
Here are a few of the examples:
